First test is an 88, woo hoo. In nursing school, that's an A. !
Getting, ready to paint some additional murals this fall since Plaid is not giving me enough work. Can't wait around for them when they're not doing the same for me . I was able to do some work at Centralhatchee elementary this summer w a wonderful principal, carol Thomas. I'm looking forward to getting back there for more next month.

New school year 2014
Updates.... Psych semester - passed with an A, yay. I worked pretty hard to get that. It certainly is not my favorite subject. Everybody has a little psychosis is within us all, so it's a bit scary to jump into to that world. But that's over for now, and I am currently in my mother baby semester.
School has been in session for four weeks and today is our first test. I'm definitely nervous for this one. First test with all new teachers and who knows how hard each question will be.
Another adventure begins as my clinicals yesterday brought me to the labor and delivery floor. I was able to witness one vaginal birth and one cesarean birth. Wonderful and those new babies are my favorite! I found myself drawn to the newborn assessment more than the mama and the trauma of childbirth. Don't get me wrong..certainly fascinating but I'm drawn to the babies.
Since April, I've also been low carving. With that has come a loss of 35 pounds and wearing clothes that fit better. Its been 25 years since I've been this weight. I'm looking forward to losing more. Its been pretty easy . Its the way I eat anyway.
The last for now...Natl Technical Honor Society member! Woohoo!
Off to study and take exam!

Summer semester is complete!
Happy days are here again! Psych semester is finished. My final went well, better than I thought. Finished the final with an A and the semester with a 93! So glad that all the worry about only three tests is done and done. Now to get some artwork complete and pay some bills. No vacation this year and a staycation means fixing the house that's been out off too long. But damn the humidity here in Georgia is enough to kill you in the process.
Got to see Tim McGraw's concert at Lakewood last night. We could see up close but it was nice to be outside to see a concert. Good night and date to celebrate 32 years!

Psych ending
Just a few more days and the psych semester will be finished. A few weeks of work and a few weeks break and ,we'll start over again! It'll be nice to chill for a few weeks and get things done around the house. No vacation this year- bills come first. Nursing school is a strain on the wallet so vacation will be postponed til next year!

Dewey Decimal and Memorial day weekend
Back in school as all the others are getting out for summer. This semester is dedicated to community and psychiatric nursing. I'm not sure it's my kind of thing but I'll hang in there. I've basically have had a week and a half of vacation as the semester starts which allowed me to make some much needs funds. Providence Elementary School library has been waiting patiently to have another wall painted. This one is for the Dewey decimal system based on the tree of knowledge. It came out looking like a page from one of the books and fit the library perfectly with all the other patriotic based paintings.
This weekend is full of travel, one to Athens for my son's oldest best friend getting married at UGA. And two, vfor Lauren's birthday , thrown by her boyfriend Nick. This one is out in Loganville. So back and forth from Carrollton we go, all in all, u could travel to Florida with all the drive time I accumulating this weekend and last. Last week was a nursing association leadership retreat in Winder. (Pretty much the same location where I am going today. ) The retreat was at Fort Yargo Camp Will a way. Good food, good friends, and great info and games. Everything good but sleep! And to top off the weekend, I received my goodies from the National Technical Honor Society.

Summer's starting
Last year around this time, I was preparing to taking my entrance exam again foe the best score possible and applying to the Nursing program at school. I had work/murals lined up through the entire summer, paint by number projects, and the stress from working on the second book illustrations. But this year, summer starts early with only a week in between semesters and only one small mural set up for May( still waiting on confirmation). Nursing school this semester will take me to a number of different places all within 8 weeks. I'm not sure how I feel about doing psych and community nursing but time will tell.
People keep telling me that art and nursing go hand in hand be cause of the critical thinking and creativity needed for both. I think the fact that I am one of the oldest in my cohort helps a great deal also. Whatever, it works for me and I'm enjoying the transition. I think a change to my blog site is appropriate. Not what yet but it will be changed soon not that I can post easier. P.S. The student nurses assoc retreat that I am going to at weeks end is having a bunk decorating contest, yep, let creativity flow!

Sweet, mobile posts!
So I have a windows phone and the app choices are not as abundant as androids but I found one to update my blog with the device I take most of my pictures with.
Nursing school keeps me very busy but in between breaks from school, I fill it in with artwork. I found myself throwing artwork into my studies all the time, whether through projects or just drawing. I'm never gonna give up being an artist or being creative. Comes with being me!
I have been able to use those essential creative skills to replicate burns, even the full thickness burns to the bone and to use my airbrush to do flames for our poster background. I even use my drawing skills to help me with studying and notes....(insert pic with the diseases in relation to body parts).
During some of my last breaks, I completed elementary schools' history mural ( Western expansion in the US) and a STEM mural that incorporates the look of Games of Thrones opening sequence. That one is pretty cool .
And over the last summer, I completed the second book for the Munson series. It Is my last one. I didn't really have time to do this one either, but I was under pressure to finish it. Wish it was better. I decided if I don't have the time or the want to do it, I am gonna refuse it. I haven't always been able to do that, but after this last book, I saw something that I wasn't proud to put my name on - so it was my deciding factor. My name is everything and I don't want to compromise my reputation because somebody else has a timeframe that I can't accommodate.
I am hoping to place some photos from the last year year on my blog but I don't see where on my app I can do that so until next time.
